Words of Wisdom from "Fighting Tiger"

Chief’s Corner

March 09

How How KIPOO Nation,

It has been my distinct honor and privilege to be able to serve as your Chief over most of the past year.  The KIPOO nation has meant so much to myself, both my daughters, and my family, that helping it on our expedition has been both rewarding and enriching.

People often ask to explain Adventure Princesses and I tell them I wouldn’t be as close to my daughters without the program.  Whether it is bowling, bingo, canoeing, horseback riding, or just sitting around the fire, those are the majority of the memories that I have with my Princesses.  I have been able to not only bond with my daughters, but also get to know them.  They also have gotten to know me and we found out that we really enjoy each others company.  Although the time in Princesses is very short, you will build memories that will last a lifetime.

I also tell them about the fellowship with the other Dad’s.  Sure, it is a lot of fun at all the events (especially campouts), but we also work together to support each other and build some great friendships along the way.  In short we build a community, that binds the Princesses and Dads to one another and to other families.  Some of the best friends I have made in the Dayton area were through Adventure Princesses.

I now have one Princess graduated out of the program and we are still having a great time in Wanderers.  Her and my memories from Princesses still stick with us.  I am also lucky to have a Princess still in the program who enjoys it as much as her sister did.  We are all three closer than I could have ever imagined before the program and it means the world to me.

How How,

Russ “Chief Fighting Tiger” Burleson
